Senior Specialist – Privacy Technology and Cookie Management



Careers that Change LivesReporting to and collaborating with the Senior Privacy Technology Program Manager, the Senior Specialist, Privacy Enhancements and Technology (“Senior Specialists”) collaborates cross-functionally across Medtronic and with individuals within the Data & Privacy Center of Expertise (COE) to drive progress on key corporate initiatives.

The Senior Specialist will be responsible for the planning and execution of key privacy compliance program initiatives to drive Medtronic’s compliance and maturity with global privacy regulations and industry best practices, with a particular focus on cookie management and privacy-enhancing capabilities and technology.

The Data and Privacy COE team operates as a high functioning team within a relatively flat team structure.  Members of this team are innovative, highly flexible; enthusiastic collaborators; results orientated; independent; actively engaged; and able to influence without direct authority.

A Day in the LifeResponsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

The Senior Specialist closely collaborates with the Global Data & Privacy COE team and key stakeholders to continuously improve the processes and technology that supports cookie management and compliance across Medtronic.  The successful candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, comfortable collaborating as part of a team, working directly with senior leaders or working independently. Key responsibilities include:

Lead, advise, collaborate, and execute an enterprise cookie preference management solution in a phased approach across all Operating Units (OUs) and regions.
Identifies or designs and develops privacy preserving/enhancing tools with high utility and strong privacy protection that support Medtronic’s strategic data objectives.
Leads by example to model a culture of ethics and integrity, exercise sound judgment and courage as a trusted advisor to the business and to the team.
Leads Cookie Management project and other privacy technology initiatives and projects.
Tracks the trends of privacy preserving/enhancing tools and analyzes the impact on privacy protection.
Drives collaboration and provides work direction and support as needed to other teams in support of the assigned projects. This includes cross-functional teams across the enterprise such as Operating Unit (OU) business leaders, OU IT/Development teams, Legal teams, and Regional Privacy leaders.
Communicate and lead meetings with internal and external customers and vendors.
Conduct briefings to higher level management team on project status and risks.
Solve issues through information exchange, influence, and active persuasion without direct exercise of command to gain cooperation of other parties on project execution plans.
Continuously identify and communicate improvement opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Must Have: Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience leading technology implementations; or, advanced degree with 2+ years’ experience
Nice to Have


Prior Medtronic Experience.
Strong knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, the OneTrust cookie module.
Strong knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, java script and CSS.
Strong technical acumen, including the ability to understand the technology landscape, identify opportunities, and overcome technical obstacles.
Experience with execution of cookie management solutions across large multi-national company.
Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to drive project progress and alignment.
Demonstrated experience building positive relationships and working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including with employees, clients, senior management, external parties/authorities, and suppliers.
Experience with business operations requirements implementation.
Experience assessing and defining system specifications preferably in relation to compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
Experience in the healthcare or medical device industry, in a multi-national organization.
Experience leading change management projects.
Experience working within a large matrixed and/or global IT systems, services, or operations.
Demonstrated results orientation (driving to deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to utilize excellent decision-making skills.
Experience and demonstrated ability to present to a variety of audiences including the ability to translate technical information.
Strong analytical skills; ability to understand and problem solve complex issues.
